Fund in memory of Gian Giacomo Gulotta
The Gian Giacomo’s Wave Philanthropic Fund was established in December 2023 in memory of Gian Giacomo Gulotta, who passed away prematurely in June 2022 at only 44 years of age, after battling a very rare and aggressive form of soft tissue sarcoma.
Established by Francesca Gulotta in collaboration with F.I.Do – Fondazione Italia per il Dono, the first philanthropic intermediary in Italy and part of the Allianz Group, the Fund aims to transform profound grief into a movement capable of generating meaning, value, and life.
🌊 Why “The Wave”
The Wave represents the silent yet powerful energy that Gian Giacomo was able to ignite and spread through his authentic humanity and profound sensitivity.
A Wave is energy that continues to propagate: a gesture of love, a vibration that changes form and reaches the lives of those who encounter it.
As Francesca recalls:
“Souls are not lost: they change form. They continue to vibrate in what we love, in what we give, and in what is born from their memory.”
The Fund was created to give continuity to this imprint of Light and Love.
🎗 Support for Sarcoma Research
One of the main projects of Gian Giacomo’s Wave is dedicated to scientific research on sarcomas, developed in collaboration with the Italian Sarcoma Group, a non-profit association aimed at improving scientific research and the treatment of patients of all ages affected by sarcomas.
In 2024, the Fund organized its first commemorative event: a gospel concert in Milan, the proceeds of which were donated to scientific research on sarcomas. On that occasion, the establishment of the Gian Giacomo’s Wave Award was announced, a financial recognition for those who distinguish themselves in clinical or translational research work of particular significance.
The first edition of the Award was presented in April 2025, accompanied by a financial recognition and an engraved crystal featuring the Wave.
In April 2026, the second edition of the Award will take place in Palermo.
Supporting research means giving hope a future and providing better tools to those who, today, face what Gian Giacomo faced yesterday.
🎶 The Wave Events: From Memory to Vibration
Following the 2024 event of memory and gratitude, on February 28, 2026, the Teatro Wagner in Milan will host “The Vibration Event”, an occasion where heart, strings, and voices unite to create a new Wave, destined to expand through music.
The proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Italian Sarcoma Group through the Fund.
🌍 The Growing Wave: Collaborations and Recognition
The Wave has begun to spread in the professional world as well:
- You.Co, for Christmas 2024, chose to support the Fund with a dedicated donation and a bookmark created in memory of Gian Giacomo.
- AB Review, the Allianz Bank magazine produced in collaboration with Harvard Business Review Italia, told the story of the Fund’s creation, the gospel concert, the Award, and the collaboration with the Italian Sarcoma Group through two dedicated articles.
- In 2026, a radio interview was conducted to further spread awareness of the project.
These are all expanding Waves: testimonies of how a gesture of love can generate new energies.
