Luca was born on August 12, 2014. At 4 months old, we noticed that Luca had difficulty holding his head up on his own and staying on his stomach. After several tests, we discovered that Luca has diffuse hypotonia throughout his body and a mutation of the COL4A1 gene (NM_001845.5) was identified. Luca only walked at 25 months and began saying a few words at 4 years old. When Luca was 4 and a half years old, we began a new, very special and costly rehabilitation program in Tel Aviv, Israel (First Step Method) that works through continuous stimulation of the child. Thanks to this method, Luca now goes up and down stairs, rides a bicycle without training wheels, swims, and is learning to roller skate. We ask all of you to help us by donating so we can continue with these therapies and allow Luca to learn many more things and become an independent child.
